Leadership

NorthLight Community Church is led by a team of servant-hearted leaders who are committed to biblical faithfulness, spiritual care, and steady growth in Christ.

Lead Pastor

Pastor Jonathan Poindexter

Since February 1, 2026, Pastor Jonathan Poindexter has been faithfully serving NorthLight Community Church as Lead Pastor, guiding our congregation through biblical teaching, worship, and shepherding care.

Jonathan was raised in a Christian home in central South Dakota and committed his life to Christ at an early age. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies with a minor in Christian Ministry from Trinity International University, and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is ordained through the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA).

Prior to starting at NLCC, Jonathan has served at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Austin, MN as Pastor of Worship & Groups (since 2014). In this role, he led worship services, trained and supervised ministry leaders, organized major church events, and developed and taught small group leaders. He has also regularly preached biblical sermons and supported district-level ministry through licensing interviews.

Jonathan brings a strong desire to shepherd the church through biblical teaching, authentic worship, and relational leadership. He values team-based ministry, equipping others, and helping people experience Christ in every season of life.

He and his wife, Tricia, were married in 2016 and are proud parents to two children. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, grilling, engaging in meaningful conversations, and making music.

“My ultimate aim as a pastor is to shepherd and equip the saints for the work of ministry.”Ephesians 4:12
